English/Language Arts Secondary Education) Western Oregon University (Special Education post-graduate) Portland State University (completion/certification: Special Education post-graduate) Biography I grew up all over the United Statescrisscrossing the nation starting at the age of 2. I graduated from St. Helens High School and went on to Oregon State University. There, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in English with a minor in European history and continued on to earn my Master’s Degree in Secondary Education with an English/Language Arts emphasis. I landed at Prairie High School in 1998 shortly after getting married. Years later, my twin boys were born. Since starting at Prairie, I have taught all grade levels at all ability levels ranging from below-grade level readers and writers to Honors and Advanced Placement. My Message I use the Message Center on Skyward OFTEN during the year. I encourage all students families to have their own email addresses entered into Skyward (make sure they’re correct and updated). This way, you will get email notification when I post a message on-line. Also note, my website should be used frequently by students. The Class Calendars and Vocabulary pages are crucial to class as is the Habits of Mind page. It is HIGHLY encouraged that students BOOKMARK my website so that they can return to it quickly and easily during the school year. I encourage students to be active and responsible for and in their own learning.
